The IVYFON Network, with moderator and seasoned energy investor Tyson Halsey, held a panel on energy and ESG investing. The questions posed: what is ESG investing and panelists’ thoughts about the energy transition. I’m up around minute 5:45 - 13:11.
A few highlights of my “tee-up” role of the panel:
• I define ESG and the sustainability space—a catalyst for capital, a framework, a filter
• Capital is becoming more conscious, and drivers are climate concerns and ESG
• Overview some of the forces affecting energy and sustainability, including Russian invasion
• What we need to do to get cleaner now
• Concern over wasting capital and resources, which we cannot afford, and given that excess liquidity is/has been driving capital
• Politicization of energy is counterproductive with the need to move faster and even utilize existing tech better
Best [investing] ideas: I responded by saying that the initiatives I’m actively working on are my best ideas in the space. Ie., what I spend my time on is what I think has the most value. That’s at minute 50:05 - 51:50.
