Energy Summit, Lands, and Ranches

The NAPE Expo in Houston, February 7-10, was an incredible mix of energy movers and shakers, their event for dealmakers. Thought leader Ann Bluntzer, Executive Director of TCU’s Energy Institute, gave a presentation about her project in Oceania, “The Pacific Islands Energy Initiative” at the Renewables Hub. After her, Landman Jonathan Grammer (in video below) moderated a panel titled “Common Ground: How Renewables and Oil & Gas Can Co-Exist.” The Bitcoin Mining Hub was quite good, my other stomping ground. (At the charity event and concert with Randy Rodgers and Wade Bowen, an unknown cowboy who was an excellent dancer, offered his hand, rounding out the culture part of this.) I’ll be discussing highlights, the Texas economy and more here, with an upcoming interview from Milan the 13th and an IVYFON panel talk February 14th. Below are some reflections of connected work.

At NAPE, with a young Amarillo-based oil and gas exec, we discussed the Turkey Track Ranch as he lived nearby the ranch manager. The ranch —and what it represents—garners respect in many, many ways.

Note Feb 29: I want to acknowledge the tragic disaster of the Smokehouse Creek Fire in the Panhandle, which devastated the ranch and many others’ lives and livelihoods. May all recover and heal.
